Hinstock Memorial Hall
HINSTOCK MEMORIAL HALL
The Memorial Hall is coming into the modern technological age !
We are to have our own website. It is under construction at the moment but you can see where we are now by going to www.memorialhall.hinstock.com
A website is a good place to advertise. We are therefore offering advertising space on our website at a cost of £50 per annum. BUT-here's an offer you can't refuse. If you take an advert on the website before December 31st, 2009, we will only charge you £35 for the year ! If you would like to advertise, please let me know. My contact details are at the foot of page 2.
The Hall is presently looking at organising a variety of events. The Keep Fit class which started on Monday evening, September 21st, was very well attended and looks like being a success. The Sunday evening Dance Class has also been well attended. Why not come along and learn to dance and get fit in just two evenings !! To book the Hall, just give Keith Kingsbury a call.
---------------------------------------------------
At a recent Hall Committee meeting it was noted that the Hall could be used a lot more than it is at present.
The Hall was conveyed in fee simple to the Parish Council by a conveyance dated 25th March 1958. On 2nd May, 1960, the Parish Council issued a Declaration of Trust which, basically, spelled out what the Hall was for and how it should be run.
It's interesting to read what this Declaration says about the use of the Hall :
" The property shall be held upon trust for the purpose of a Village Hall for the use of the inhabitants of Hinstock and the neighbourhood without distinction of sex, or of political, religious or other opinions and in particular for use for meetings, lectures and classes and for other forms of recreation and leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants."
Well, that covers a lot ! We do indeed have meetings, lectures and classes in the Hall - the Parish Council meets there, as does the Hall Committee. The W.I. and Flower Club meet there once a month. There is an Art Class held by John Jepson on Monday afternoons. We have had children's parties, birthday parties, Christening parties, wedding parties and various " leisure-time occupations " including a Bingo evening twice a month and things like the recent 80s Evening.
But there is still scope for the Hall to be used more. The good news is that the new committee is positive and dedicated to give activities to the village. If you have any ideas for new activities or would like to start a class etc, then please do let me know. The Hall itself has been refurbished over the past couple of years and everyone who comes to look at it is very pleased with our facilities and the cleanliness of the place. Our rates are amongst the most competitive in this area. For full details and to make bookings, again get in touch with me.
Now for good news - a KEEP FIT CLASS is being proposed for Monday evenings. A teacher has already been approached and has said yes providing that enough people are interested. So if this is what you'd like to take part in, please ring Sheila Ottolini on 01630 652300.
Also, a BALLROOM DANCE CLASS is to start on Sunday evenings in early September. The lady who runs this has been holding classes in Market Drayton but now wants a change of venue. Watch out for more details later !
There's also a Hall website in the pipeline, so things are moving along. Why not use the Hall for your party ??
