Hopesay

About Hopesay village

Hopesay village is a conservation area.  It is situated in a picturesque valley, in the north of Hopesay Parish, between Burrow Hill and Hopesay Hill.  It lies within the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The village consists of a small group of dwellings, most being large Victorian houses in their own grounds, and is an unspoilt settlement with very little modern development.

Apart from the Church, the village has no facilities.

Hopesay's character derives from its setting: being in a valley with mature trees; and its seclusion, there being comparatively little through traffic using the unclassified road through the village.

There is also a stream which flows north/south on the edge of the village.

Archaeological interest

The village of Hopesay is overlooked by an Iron Age fort on Burrow Hill, and to the North West an Iron Age Settlement at Wart Hill.
