Transport

Background/Evidence

The responses to the Questionnaire indicate that 98% of households have at least one car. Thus
only 2% do not have a car. Of the Respondents:
92% used their car for local journeys.
80% were disinclined to use a car sharing scheme.
22% used a car to transport people aged under 17 with 51% doing so at least twice
per week.
17% used a bus service.
3% used a Dial-a-Ride service.

Objective

To create and maintain an infrastructure that enables members of the Parish to retain their
independence in using cars as their preferred mode of transport.
(In arriving at this objective the Steering Group has not ignored the effects of fuel economics nor
the wider issue of global warming but takes the view that the time scale of this Plan together with
the views expressed in the Questionnaire are encapsulated in the objective and subsequent
actions.)
