MORDA RESIDENTS

There is a mobile shop called 'Scrummy Yummy' who visits Morda every day. It parks in Weston Close approx 3pm and sells Bread,Milk, Tinned Foods, Toiletries,Butter,Eggs,Bacon, Sausages etc

It is like a corner shop that comes to you!

There is a fridge for chilled goods and a freezer for ice cream and lollies.

COMMUNITY AWARDS

The Parish Council presented their first community awards at their Annual Parish Meeting on Friday 3oth April.

The awards were presented to members of the community who did voluntary work and worked within the community to make it a better place to live. The awards were presented by the present Chairman Cllr Peter Richardson

The awards went to:

Morda with Sweeney Ward: Mrs Janet ( Bobby) Evans for her work with the community garden.

Maesbury with Aston Ward - Brian and Heather Edwards who run the Bingo evenings at The Original Ball to raise funds to put on a free Christmas Lunch for senior citizens in their ward and to organise an annual excursion.

Rhydycroesau with Llanforda Ward - Ian Room for his services with the Pantomime Group, the Village Show Committee and his vision and enthusiasm for the Cynynion Woodland Scheme

Sychtyn Ward - Mrs Val Talbot who was instrumental in getting Oswestry recognised as a 'Fair Trade' town, editing the Llansilin newsletter and her work with Dolen Ffermio helping families and Aids orphans in Uganda.

Trefonen with Treflach Ward - Helen has been the guiding

light behind the Trefonen Hillwalk Weeekend since 1991.

A staggering £60,000 has been raised for local charities

but Helen was very keen to acknowledge that raising money is not the main aim of the weekend , the objective being to foster a community spirit.
