Oswestry Speakers Club

WELCOME

Does the thought of speaking in public leave you running for the hills?

Often, the most confident of people feel an overwhelming rush of nerves when asked to stand up and speak in front of others.

Whether presenting information to colleagues, offering a vote of thanks at a club or association or making a speech at a family celebration, a certain amount of 'butterflies' are a perfectly natural and healthy sensation, but for some the fear can be overwhelming and/or debilitating.

On a personal level I realised I needed to improve my confidence and speaking skills after setting up a new business in 2009 but was disappointed to find that, apart from private coaching, Shropshire did not appear to provide anywhere to do this. And the rest, as they say, is history.

I set up Oswestry Speakers Club in August 2009 to provide local people with a friendly, supportive and safe environment in which to practice, develop and improve their speaking skills. The emphasis is placed very much on friendship, learning and support. It is not about showing how great you are but about how you can grow and help others to do the same.

The group, a not for profit club, is affiliated with The Association of Speakers Clubs and follows a ten stage programme designed to build skills at a pace suited to the individual. In addition to structured learning we also include guest speakers, fun topics sessions and a whole load of laughter too!

If you would like to share your experience, develop your own skills or simply meet a great group of people, why not come along as a visitor (no charge). You will be made MOST welcome.

COME AND SEE WHAT WE DO, WE DON'T BITE!

The group meets fortnightly on Monday evenings at The Walls in Oswestry. Meetings run from 7.30pm - 9.30pm and cost £5 per session.
