Community Green Day - Saturday 13 March 2010

The Community Green Day was a free one-day educational and fun event raising awareness of sustainable solutions to environmental problems, alternative ways of living and actions which can be taken.

Nearly 400 people attended and most spent over an hour going around the stalls and exhibitions finding out about organic gardening, recycling, solar energy, local activities to name just a few.  Many visiters went on to see and hear firsthand how solar panels and wind turbines can improve energy efficiency as three local families kindly offered to show how they have taken advantage of renewable energy sources.

The day rounded off with a good attendance at the screening of of the environmental concern film 'The Age of Stupid'

The Parish Council held this event because, following consultation for the Parish Plan, residents demonstrated a support for, and interest in, the exploration and development of "green" issues at a local level, and specifically asked for a community Green Day event.
