Queen of Lesotho Visit 12 October 2010

The Queen of Lesotho, Her Majesty Masenate Mohato Seeiso visited St Michael and All Angels Church with her entourage on 12 October 2010.  It was part of a royal tour of Wales and came to the village to pay respects at the grave of an ancestor whose remains are buried in the churchyard.

Prayers were said at Prince Jeremiah Libopoua Moshueshue's grave.  The Prince died in Welshampton in 1863 whilst visiting the village.  The Queen was presented with gifts by the Church Wardens and children from the Primary School.  The children sang for the Queen who made a point a speaking to as many of them as possible before leaving to go onto Cardiff.
