This new Community Strategy is the result of a thorough and robust process of consultation which took place with partners and the residents of Shropshire during summer 2009 and winter 2009-10. Shropshire's Community Strategy is accompanied by a robust Evidence Base which supports the key challenges and priorities identified in the document. If you would like a CD copy of the Evidence Base please contact us on 01743 252269.

The Community Strategy outlines the key challenges and priorities that partners and residents have told us need addressing in Shropshire. It will form the blueprint for joint working in Shropshire over the coming decade and achieving the Community Strategy's vision for 'A Flourishing Shropshire' will mean change, open minds and fresh approaches.

Leadership Board partners have identified that delivering the Community Strategy will require a new approach to the changing times we face by working more efficiently and being realistic about financial pressures. In the coming months the Partnership will be:

  • Refocusing improvement effort to those Community Strategy priorities which are of wider relevance than the current Local Area Agreement.
  • Be examining the need for more effective data sharing / and the potential establishment of a joint information resource across the Partnership.
  • Revisiting the existing delivery arrangements in the LSP structure,

In order to agree a Community Strategy Delivery Plan the Leadership Board will be determining which of the 16 outcomes outlined in Shropshire's Community Strategy will be focussed on in the short, medium and long terms and identifying actions to deliver them. This process will involve consideration of the actions proposed during as part of the two consultations, and discussions with delivery Block leads and key partners. The Delivery Plan is expected to be ready in the Autumn of 2010.
