Parish Action Plan Update


Village Action Plan 2004.

Updated information as at May 2007.

ACTION POINT 1.
Recognise the need for a local shopping facility in outlying areas.

2006: Planning application for a convenience store has been allowed on the Foldgate Lane site,  SSDC Structure Plan Policy S7.



ACTION POINT 2a.
To actively liaise with Ludlow Town Council, South Shropshire District Council for the development of the additional footpath along the River Teme.

2006: SSDC Structure Plan Policy S15. Check progress.


ACTION POINT 2b.
Seek ways to support the conservation and preservation activities undertaken on Whitcliffe Common.

2006: Reports given at each meeting.No grant made in 2006/7. 



ACTION POINT 3. 
Make every effort to support the existing health care provision within the town and be aware of any developments that may affect this. 

2006: Representations made with regard to the closure of wards at Ludlow Hospital.


 
ACTION POINT 4.
Obtain information from traffic surveys when undertaken by SSDC/SSC within Ludlow in order to improve access and minimize the impact that any changes may have within the parish. 

2006: Park and ride Scheme see SSDC Structure Plan Policies S19 and S6. Liaison with SCC with regard to including Park Road in the town centre parking scheme this will be reviewed after 12 months.


 
ACTION POINT 5.
Seek to extend the Conservation Area around the southern boundary of the town.

2006: Included in the SSDC Structure Plan 2004-11Policy S13 Inset Map 9.


 
ACTION POINT 6.
The policy should reflect the majority wishes relating to housing provision within Parish Council policies. Review the results of appropriate surveys and use the information to inform decisions.

2006: Accepted proposal for 92 units at The Dun Cow.Requests for a foot bridge as a condition not accepted.Objecting to a pelican crossing on safety grounds.


 
ACTION POINT 7. 
The Parish Council will protect the rural character of Ludford, resisting proposals that provide facilities for Ludlow town, into the Parish.

2006: Careful monitoring on both The Eco Park and Foldgate Lane sites to protect trees and wildlife. SSDC Structure Plan Policies S10, S7, S6 and S2.


 
ACTION POINT 8a.
Actively pursue with SC C,supported by SSDC, the reintroduction of a weight limit on Ludford Bridge in order to improve safety and conserve the built and natural environment.

2006: SSDC Structure Plan Policy S19.Weight limit included in the traffic management scheme implementation by February 2007. 


ACTION POINT 8b.
Investigate the effectiveness and enforcement of current speed limits throughout the Parish area.

2006: SCC are reviewing all speed limits including those in Ludford. Liaison via the local Police Committee.



ACTION POINT 9.
The Parish Council will need to consider individual street lighting schemes if required for safety reasons. These must be considered against the stated opposition of the majority of the parish and the cost implications for all parishioners.

2006: Repairs have been made to existing lighting as necessary.


 
ACTION POINT 10.
Improve communications between the Parish Council and the residents by: an annual newsletter prior to the AGM, the use of dedicated notice boards and development of a Parish web-site.

2006: Grant aid agreed to provide 3 noticeboards for Ludford, Rocks Green and the Sheet.
