Ford village lies on the north side of the A458 Shrewsbury to Welshpool road, about eight kms west of Shrewsbury town centre. The majority of the electorate live in Ford village, with the remainder living in the outlying settlements of Chavel, the Welshpool Road, Shoothill and parts of Ford Heath. Much of the village of Ford is old and includes many interesting Listed Buildings. The older part of the village is within a designated Conservation Area. A Council-built estate of 70 houses was erected during the late 1940s and 35 flats and bungalows for the elderly were built in the late 1960s. More recent developments include Manor Crest and Quail ridge which have increased the electorate to 600
