Association of Local Councils (ALC)
We work from a small but very busy office based at The Shirehall in Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury and we serve all local councils in Shropshire and Telford & The Wrekin.
Membership is open to all local councils and parish meetings on payment of a small annual subscription. The one subscription covers membership of both ALC and the National Association of Local Councils (NALC).
On behalf of the Campaign to Protect Rural England CPRE and the National Association of Local Councils (NALC), SALC ran 7 Government funded events over a 6 week period from 9 February to 27 March at venues throughout Shropshire Telford & Wrekin to support the Government's vision of the 'Big Society' and localism agenda in 'Supporting Communities and Neighbourhoods in Planning'. Over 260 members of local councils, organisations and the public attended the events and were invited to express their views from their local perspective. Shropshire (77.5KB)An important consultation is being undertaken by Shropshire Council and the Voluntary & Community Sector on the new challenges set out in the Localism Act in response to the Government's vision of the Big Society which was emailed to clerks on 16 February.
